I’m from Singapore and I'm the founder of Mado. I’ve spent 20 years in retail, building experiences at Charles & Keith, Uniqlo, and Tim Hortons. But my most demanding job? Planning travel wardrobes for my entire family.
Like all Singaporeans, we love to travel, especially to places with a cooler climate. As the designated family vacation wardrobe planner, I know the grind too well. I'd source outfits for our family of four, plan the coordinates for each day that suits the activities and weather and then pack everything in. During the trip, I orchestrate everyone’s outfit daily so everyone looks good on photos. And I'm no expert in this. Finally, I come home to an inevitable mountain of dirty laundry.
It’s a labor of love, but exhausting.
In 2023, an impromptu trip to Fukuoka that leaves me with only a day to plan and pack. Stress & panic led me thinking 'what if we didn’t need to pack?'
The pain points of many became Mado.

Mado: The Brand Philosophy
Mado (窓, 'window' in Japanese), like a window, invites travelers to peek momentarily into a different scenery,
offering them a curated glimpse into another culture through clothes.
Through Mado, travelers access carefully curated wardrobes, they immerse themselves in a different aesthetic and mindset.
This act of "looking through a window" enables travelers to experience the destination not merely as visitors, but as temporary insiders,
blending seamlessly with local fashion and culture.
一期一会 Ichigo ichie ~ One time, one meeting
Every encounter, whether with a person, a place, or a piece of clothing, is unrepeatable and therefore precious.
Each garment allocated to our customers has been thoughtfully selected and carefully prepared to reach their hands at this exact moment in time.
侘寂 Wabi-sabi ~ Finding beauty in imperfection
Some of our garments may show gentle signs of their journey, maybe softened, maybe a faded hue or
maybe a subtle mark of time. These are, but testimonies to life.
Wabi-sabi teaches us that perfection is many a times not possible, instead beauty lies in authenticity and history.
A slightly worn piece carries more soul than something pristine and untouched.
It has stories to tell, and now, it invites you into its narrative.
勿体ない Mottainai ~ Too precious to waste
You may get an occasional vintage piece because at Mado, whether new or vintage, each piece is honored and given new life through our sharing economy.
Clothes are celebrated and circulated among travelers who appreciate their value.
Mottainai reminds us that true luxury isn't in ownership, but in the thoughtful stewardship of beautiful things.
By participating in Mado, travelers become part of a cycle where fashion is cherished and shared.
Mado personalizes each traveler's journey by considering their itinerary,
personal preferences, and the weather, make sure every outfit is both practical and transformative.
The service turns the daily ritual of getting dressed into an adventure, where each look offers a new perspective.
Ultimately, Mado is an invitation to explore and to expand one's worldview through clothes.
